EDPMA Members:

Over the past 13 years, EDPMA has earned a nation-wide reputation as an effective advocate for sustainable, quality emergency medical care. Our span and scope has grown exponentially, from a single federal advocacy issue to multiple federal issues (requiring numerous Task Forces), progressing to vigorous advocacy in multiple state venues. EDPMA has been increasingly recognized as an effective group of solution-makers, and a "go-to" group for management expertise, reimbursement solutions, quality issues, and synergies with our brother and sister organizations in emergency medicine.

In the past year, our Board authorized a subgroup (led by Suzy Wier of the T-System) to explore EDPMA's present and future needs for management services, consistent with our aspirations. For more than eight months, over a dozen Board members met intensively to study, plan, and explore options on behalf of our aspirations for the future. We studied our own history, used a professional facilitator, and applied a wealth of commitment and tenacity along the way.

The result: a robust RFP process, yielding a number of well-qualified management organizations as applicants. Last month, the Board voted without exception to appoint the leading finalist, Association Management Group, Inc. (AMG), as the management group for our future.

Effective February 1, 2010, AMG assumed management responsibilities for EDPMA, including the appointment of an Executive Director, a Program Manager, all membership services, website development and maintenance, and more. We are pleased about the many possibilities AMG brings to bear, and have never been more optimistic about our future in emergency medicine advocacy. Stay tuned for more specifics, which will come to you via additional communications.

I must say that this has been the most thorough, encouraging, and heart-warming process I've seen. Many thanks to those who gave of their time, talents, dedication, and resources on behalf of the patients we serve.

Please join me in congratulating AMG on our new relationship. At the same time, we sincerely thank the Coulter Companies for their significant contributions to our mission over the past 13 years. We are most grateful!

Sincerely,

Randy Pilgrim, MD, FACEP

The Emergency Department Practice Management Association

Our Members Deliver Quality Health Care to Americans in the Emergency Department Day and Night

Who We Are
EDPMA is a national trade association representing Emergency Department Physician Groups, ED Billing Companies, and Supporting Organizations that make it their business to deliver quality care in the ED.

What We Do
Our mission is to advocate for emergency department physician groups and their partners to enhance quality patient care through operational excellence and financial stability.

EDPMA is focused on advocating for beneficial policies for emergency physician groups and educating its members about emerging legislative and regulatory issues.

How We Do It
Through its Task Forces, EDPMA advocates for its members on many issues that are important to emergency physician groups including: Medicare reimbursement for physician services; uncompensated care and the growing number of uninsured and underinsured patients; professional liability reform; Medicare’s program rules, including enrollment requirements; and issues related to timely patient access to care and patient safety.

From heart attacks to hurricanes our emergency physician groups work with our nation’s rural, urban, and suburban hospitals each day to ensure that thousands of patients receive safe, high-quality care day and night. But the demands on the Emergency Department are increasing while the resources to meet those demands are not.
